Unnatural Fruit
Now friends, here is an area that needs to be clarified because
it has been distorted in the church. I know that Sunday School class
didnt teach you this, but the truth of the matter is that
the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden is not an apple, orange,
banana, or pear. It is a nature that has been transferred to humanity
through obedience to the devils lie.
When God says do not partake of this particular fruit, it is not
a commandment to stop man from eating some type of organically grown
fruit from a literal tree. God was dealing with a nature, the fruit
of a spirit. These fruit are outlined in Galatians 5:22-23:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such
there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23
Just like the Spirit of God bears fruit, the spirit of Satan also
bears fruit. All spirits have the propensity to bear fruit. Therefore,
the forbidden fruit is a forbidden nature. The tree of the knowledge
of good and evil produces fruit that is accessed by giving heed
to Satans words. Satan is the tree, and the knowledge gained
from his words is the forbidden fruit. When you eat forbidden fruit
from the forbidden tree, you partake of the very nature of the devil. |
However, Satans nature was one that man was
never meant to possess. This nature is found in the seventeen (17)
works of the flesh delineated in Galatians 5:19-21:
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these;
Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry,
witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions,
heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such
like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you
in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit
the kingdom of God.
Before Satan was able to entice man into this realm of the knowledge
of good and evil, man had no knowledge of evil. He simply obeyed
God by nature. But the nature of Satan gave Adam and Eve an awareness
of both Gods goodness and the devils evil. Once Satans
nature was introduced to man, he had the ability to operate in
his own free will. This forced man to have to make daily choices
as to whether he was going to obey God or the devil.
When Adam and Eve walked away from the anchor of their souls (the
Lord God Almighty) into the soulish den of the devil, they immediately
began to spiritually mutate into another life-type one not
created by God, but the devil. Detached from God, man became a
strange creation. In Gods presence, he now felt self-conscious,
paranoid, unusual, and strange. As we see in Genesis 3:8, mans
fallen nature leads him to hide from God, cover himself up and
avoid the truth and light of God.
Since God easily sees all things in man, the only person he is
really hiding from is himself. Through the fallen state, man has
taken on the image of the devilnot by acts of sin, but by
nature. According to the Bible, this makes us the children of
wrath. By feasting on the forbidden fruit, we become the offspring
of the devil, allowing him to rule the human soul by nature. Once
man takes on this nature, he becomes the very antithesis of God
and His Creator becomes his enemy. In light of this, God sent
His Son, not to destroy us physically, but to destroy the nature
we possess. For this purpose was the Son of God manifest, that
He might destroy the works of the devil.
When Eve obeyed the voice of Satan in spite of what God had instructed,
she gave him preeminence and the right to stand in the place of
God. When Adam submitted to Eves lies, wiles, and seduction,
he gave up his position as the authority for God. He bowed the
knee and began to worship and serve Eve, who was supposed to be
submitted to him. Here we see the gravest consequences of the
fall. When Adam bowed to Eve in rebellion against the Word of
God, for all intents and purposes, they switched places. Eve became
the authority and Adam the submissive one. This is why we currently
have matriarchal rulership seeking to take over and displace Gods
Sovereign order.
When God came to Adam (as the authority) and asked, What
have you done? the effect of the fallen nature is visible
in Adams reply. He quickly turns to blame the woman. Without
hesitation, the irresponsibility of his rebellious deeds is swiftly
cast on somebody else. In a single breath, Adam walks away from
his authority and responsibility before God in search of a scapegoat.
Similarly, when the Lord addresses Eve, she blames the serpent.
No one is accountable in this fallen, perverted, and mutated nature
